HP StorageWorks Command View XP Advanced Edition Device Manager Server Installation and Configuration Guide (December 2005)

Setup for Managing Copy Pairs 79
5-4 Creating Configuration Definition Files for RAID
Manager XP
You can use Device Manager to create a configuration definition file, which is then used by RAID
Manager XP to create copy pairs.
Device Manager has the following features when interacting with RAID Manager XP:
You cannot use Device Manager to delete an invalid configuration file, even if you created that
file with Device Manager. You must use RAID Manager XP. This is important, because an
invalid configuration file can adversely affect system performance.
To create a configuration definition file:
1. If a copy pair is already managed by RAID Manager XP, the copy pair can be managed by
Device Manager after Device Manager is installed.
NOTE: When Device Manager is installed, the Device Manager agent property must be configured if the
installation drive of RAID Manager XP in Windows
®
is different from the installation drive of Device Manager
agent.
2. When you directly use RAID Manager XP, check the HORCM instance number of RAID
Manager XP managing the copy pair.
3. In the following property in the Device Manager agent property file, enter the HORCM instance
that you want to exclude from Device Manager operations. Separate HORCM instances by
commas if you want to enter multiple HORCM instances:
Property file name: server.properties
Property name: server.agent.rm.exclusion.instance
Example: server.agent.rm.exclusion.instance=0, 1, 2
4. Restart the Device Manager agent service (daemon).
