machine.
Replication Manager:
The Replication Manager command device configuration function cannot be used to set a volume as
a command device if the volume has been allocated for a virtual machine.
1. Use P9000 Remote Web Console to set the volume as a command device.
2. Use P9000 Remote Web Console to add the command device in step 1 to a VMware host group,
and ensure that a path is set for the command device.
3. Perform VMware Raw Device Mapping and ensure that the command device in step 1 is recognized
by the virtual machine.
Replication Manager Application Agent:
In Replication Manager Application Agent earlier than 6.4.0–00:
When using VMware 4.0 or later, configure the backup server on a non-virtual machine.
In Replication Manager Application Agent 6.4.0-00 or later:
Database servers configured on a virtual machine are supported if VMware 4.0 or later is used.
Backup servers configured on a virtual machine are supported if all of the following conditions
are met:
The backup target is SQL Server.
The secondary volume is a single generation.
On the Replica Options tab (under the Setup Agent of the backup server), the check box

If these conditions are not met, configure the backup server on a non-virtual machine.
The sudo function for Host Data Collector
When using sudo to register or refresh Unix hosts, the following error message might be output
repeatedly:
ERR_1202 : Unable to copy all the files to the remote server. (Remote
server: "IP address of target host", Cause: Error during SCP transfer.)
In this case, delete the following files from the /tmp directory, and then retry the operation:
SupportedOs.txt
FsDataGather.*
FsDataGatherLauncher.Unix.sh
When using sudo to register or refresh a Solaris host, if stty erase ^H is enabled for .bashrc,
the following error message is output and the operation fails:
ERR_1205 : Task execution failed. (Cause: bash: sudo: command not found)
When using sudo to register or refresh a Solaris host, do not enable stty erase ^H for .bashrc.
Installing Host Data Collector
A period (.) cannot be specified in the installation path. Although prohibited special characters
other than semicolon (such as @) can be specified in the installation path, Host Data Collector
will not work properly. When you specify an installation path, use the following characters:
A -Z, a-z, 0-9, left parenthesis [ ( ], right parenthesis [ ) ], single-byte space, backslash(\).
If Host Data Collector cannot be installed on the host with a supported operating system after
installing Device Manager, install Host Data Collector manually.
