the Device Manager 7.1.0-01 Service Pack separately. You can install these Service Packs in any
order.
• While the update operation is in progress, do not interrupt it. Do not start the service or execute
any command of the Device Manager server or Common Component. Do not access any files in
the installation folders.
• While the update is in progress, do not interrupt the program.
• If the update package includes an agent correction, update the server, download the agent from
the server to the target host, and then update the agent on the host. For instructions, see the HP
StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software Administrator Guide.
• The host name specified during the Device Manager server installation must be no more than 32
single-byte characters. If a host name exceeds 32 characters, rename the host and then resume
the installation.
• After the server is updated, download the Host Data Collector from the server to the target host,
and then update the Host Data Collector on the host. For instructions, see the HP StorageWorks
P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software Administrator Guide.
Precautions for Windows
• The user who performs the update must be a member of the Administrator group.
• During the update operation, temporary files are created under the directory
Device-Manager-server-installation-folder\Server\inst\backup. For details
about the disk space required for these files, see Table 1 Disk space requirements for Windows.
These files are cleared when a regular or corrected version of the product is installed.
• During the update, progress is output to the log file
Device-Manager-server-installation-folder\Server\logs\PATCHLOG.TXT. This
file is cleared when the next regular or corrected version of the product is installed.
• Do not click the mouse while applying the service pack. If some mouse clicks are done, patch
updater is not responding message is displayed on a pop up dialog box. In this case, leave it as
it is until it disappears automatically, and the service pack will be applied successfully.
Precautions for Linux
• The user who performs the update must be a member of the Administrator group.
• Root permissions are necessary to perform the update.
• During the update operation, temporary files are created under the directory
Device-Manager-server-installation-folder/inst/backup. For details about the
disk space required for these files, see Table 2 Disk space requirements for Linux or Table 3 Disk
space requirements for SUSE Linux. These files are cleared when a regular or corrected version
of the product is installed.
• During the update operation, progress is output to the log file
Device-Manager-server-installation-directory/logs/PATCHLOG.TXT. This file
is cleared when the next regular or corrected version of the product is installed.
Update procedure for Windows
1. Confirm that the currently installed Device Manager server is one of the applicable product versions
listed in "Prerequisites."
Check the version of the Device Manager server by referring to the version information of the
GUI. For details, see the online help.
