HP P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Software Update 7.1.0-01 Release Notes (TB581-96073, June 2011)
Device Manager server host name
Installing Device Manager fails if the host name of the Device Manager server cannot be resolved. If
the host name cannot be resolved, specify an IP address when you install Device Manager.
Device Manager server loopback address
Running the Device Manager GUI fails if the IP address 127.0.0.1 is not assigned as the loopback
address in the Device Manager server machine. You will not be able to run the GUI from the Start
menu. Ensure that 127.0.0.1 is assigned as the loopback address. In a web browser, enter the URL
for accessing Command View Advanced Edition to run the GUI.
Adjusting the computer’s time
If a computer's time is changed while the services of Common Component and Command View
Advanced Edition products are running, Device Manager might not operate correctly. If you need to
change the time, do so before installation.
If you want to use functionality that automatically adjusts the time by using a protocol such as NTP,
use a function that gradually adjusts the computer time without immediately synchronizing the time
when the computer time is ahead of the actual time. There are some functions that gradually adjust
the time if the difference between the computer time and the actual time is within a fixed range, but
immediately synchronize the time if the time difference exceeds that range. Set the frequency of the
time adjustments for the function you are using so that the time difference does not exceed the fixed
range.
For example, the Windows Time service can gradually adjust the computer time without synchronizing
it to the actual time as long as the difference between the computer time and the actual time does not
exceed a fixed range. Therefore, check the range in which the Windows Time service can gradually
adjust the time, and then set the frequency of the time adjustments for the Windows Time service so
that the difference between the computer time and the actual time does not exceed that range.
If you cannot use functionality that adjusts the time automatically, or if you need to change the time
immediately, perform the following procedure to change the time manually:
1. Stop the services of Common Component and all Command View Advanced Edition products.
2. To set the clock back, wait until the actual clock time catches up to computer clock time, and then
restart the computer.
In a United States or Canada time zone on the computer on which the Device Manager server will be
installed, set the operating system so that it is compatible with the new Daylight Saving Time (DST)
rules . If the operating system is not compatible with the new DST rules, the Device Manager server
will not be compatible with the new rules.
Firewall functions (Windows)
Certain operating system firewall functions might block socket connections on the local host. You
cannot install and operate Command View Advanced Edition products in an environment where socket
connections are blocked on the local host. When setting up a firewall on the operating system, configure
the settings so that socket connections are not blocked on the local host.
TMP environment variable (Windows)
If multi-byte characters are included in a Windows login account name, they will be included in the
path specified in the TMP environment variable, and you will not be able to install Command View
Advanced Edition. Specify a path that does not contain multi-byte characters for the TMP environment
variable before performing an installation.
