HP StorageWorks SMI-S v.3.7 in a Command View for Tape Libraries (CVTL) v.3.7 Environment Release Notes (QN998-96119, December 2013)
Version:
HP StoreEver SMI-S Tape Provider Version 3.7.00
Description
HP StoreEver SMI-S Tape Provider is certified by the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA).
It is not installed by default during the installation of Command View TL. The custom installation step
has to be followed to select Tape Provider installation. It will allow industry-standard storage resource
management (SRM) tools, such as HP Systems Insight Manager or HP StorageWorks Storage Essentials,
to discover and obtain management information about HP Enterprise Storage Libraries.
The SMI-S Tape Provider relies on the use of WBEM and CIM standards defined by DMTF and adopted
by SNIA. SMI-S uses the device management interfaces (Command View TL) of the Storage Libraries
and provides standard CIM/WBEM format data to the external world of management applications.
