HP StorageWorks SMI-S v.3.7 in a Command View for Tape Libraries (CVTL) v.3.7 Environment Release Notes (QN998-96119, December 2013)

“HP StorageWorks CIM Object Manager service not started after a custom installation
of Command View TL with SMI-S Tape provider selected
Symptom: Install Command View TL in custom mode with SMI-S Tape provider selected. The “HP
StorageWorks CIM Object Manager service is not started. When starting the service manually, the
following warning appears: The HP StorageWorks CIM Object Manager service on
Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services top automatically
if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts
service.
Workaround:
1. In Notepad, open the file C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SMI-S\CXWSCimom\
config\Cxws.properties
2. Update the port numbers for cxws.http.port and cxws.https.port with the port numbers
that are not used by any application. For example:
cxws.http.port=15988
cxws.https.port=15989
3. Save the Cxws.properties file.
4. Start the HP StorageWorks CIM Object Manager service.

Prerequisites
Command View TL 3.7.00 should be installed on the machine.
The Command View TL Management Station should be managing the library for which the user
intends to view the information.

Determining port number
The Port number for the Tape Provider can be identified in the configuration file in installed location
of Tape Provider (for example C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\
op-cimom\cimserver_planned.conf). The https port indicates the secured port.

SMI-S Tape Provider version 3.6.00 or earlier.
