BIOS Recovery Beep Codes
In the case of a bootblock update, where video is not available for text messages to be displayed, speaker
beeps are necessary to inform the user of any errors. Table 10-6 describes the type of error beep codes that
may occur during the bootblock update.

The keyboard controller may be bad. The BIOS cannot
switch to protected mode.
7 Processor exception interrupt
error
The CPU generated an exception interrupt.
8 Display memory read/write error The system video adapter is either missing or its memory is
faulty. This is not a fatal error.
