CAUTION Some gears are not captive when the paper-pickup assembly is removed. They can easily slide
off of the shafts and be lost. Also, the solenoid is not captive when the paper-pickup assembly is
removed.
8. Remove five screws (callout 10). Pull the paper-pickup gear assembly away from the chassis
and remove it.

Reinstall note When you install the tray drive gears and shaft, verify that the gears are seated on the shaft locking
bars and that the shaft collars are positioned correctly in the lower gear assembly mounting bracket
and 500-sheet feeder chassis.

The large gear inside of the paper-pickup
assembly is not captive and will slide off of the
shaft and be loose inside the paper-pickup
assembly when the tray drive-gear/shaft is
removed.
