Fabric Manager migration
NOTE
Data migration is only available from Fabric Manager 5.4 and 5.5.
NOTE
If you have Fabric Manager 5.3 or earlier software, you must upgrade to Fabric Manager 5.4 and 5.5
before you can migrate to DCFM 10.0.
For information about upgrading to a version of Fabric Manager that meets migration requirements,
refer to the Upgrade Instructions for Fabric Manager 5.4 and 5.5.
Migration facilitates importing asset information, authentication settings, as well as important
configuration settings from your existing Fabric Manager installation to the new DCFM installation.
All basic asset information from the Fabric Manager repository is imported to DCFM as part of
migration. The asset data migrated includes discovered Fabrics and Switches. Other asset data
(such as, name server information, ports, zoning, admin domain, and so on) is collected once the
DCFM server starts after migration as part of regular asset collection.
Fabric Manager server authentication settings are migrated. If you chose an external
authentication type in Fabric Manager, the settings contain the external authentication
configuration. User information (Fabric Manager user preferences) is migrated and automatically
added to DCFM with default access to ‘All Fabrics’ and ‘Administrator’ privilege. Also, the
authentication method set in Fabric Manager migrates as Primary authentication and Local is set
as secondary authentication.
FTP server settings are also migrated. Necessary configuration files and entries are ported to the
FTP server in the DCFM installation.
