Glossary
ACL Access Control List. A data protection feature that restricts access to data resources
based on defined policies.
ASIC Application-Specific Integrated Circuit. A customized integrated circuit.
B-series Switches manufactured for HP by Brocade Communications Systems, Inc.
CP See CPC.
CPC Central processor complex. A board that contains multiple processor chipsets.
This is the mainframe equivalent of CPU.
CUP Control Unit Port. An optional feature used to manage and monitor FICON
directors.
DCC Device Connection Control. A data access policy that determines to which switch
ports a Fibre Channel device can connect.
DCFM Data Center Fabric Manager software.
DH-CHAP Diffie-Hellman Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol
DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. A network application protocol used to
obtain configuration information in an IP network.
DH group Diffie-Hellman prime modulus group used when performing the Diffie-Hellman
exchange, used in DH-CHAP
DID Destination ID.
DLS Dynamic Load Sharing. A feature used for trunking and load balancing between
switches.
DPOD Dynamic ports on demand.
DPS Dynamic Path Selection. A feature used for trunking and load balancing between
switches.
EFCM Enterprise Fabric Connectivity Manager software.
ESA Exchange Security Attributes.
ESC Exchange switch capabilities. A fabric command used to determine the domain
ID offset setting of adjacent switches.
ESS Enterprise storage subsystem.
ESS ILS ESS exchange security attributes.
FC Fibre Channel. A comprehensive set of standards for concurrent communication
among servers, storage systems, and peripheral devices.
