HP StorageWorks Fabric Interoperability: Merging Fabrics Based on M-series and B-series Fibre Channel Switches Application Notes (AA-RUQQL-TE, November 2009)

3. Enter the interopmode 0 command to disable interoperability.
switch:admin> interopmode 0
Interop mode is disabled
The switch effective configuration will be lost.
The system will reboot to allow the change to take effect.
Do you want to continue? (yes, y, no, n): [no] y
A number of parameters are reset, McDATA Open Fabric mode or McDATA Fabric mode is
disabled, and the switch performs an automatic reboot.
4. When the fabric reconfiguration is complete, repeat Step 1 through Step 3 for all B-series switches
to be removed from the merged fabric.
NOTE:
M-series switches cannot communicate with switches in Brocade Native mode.
Frame Redirection in interoperable fabrics
Frame Redirection provides a means to redirect traffic flow between a host and a target to virtualization
and encryption applications. This allows those applications to perform without reconfiguring the host
and target. Use this feature if the hosts and targets are not directly attached to M-series switches.
NOTE:
For support of Frame Redirection in McDATA Fabric Mode (interopmode 2), M-series products must
use firmware 09.08.00 or later.
For support of Frame Redirection in McDATA Open Fabric Mode (interopmode 3), M-series products
must use firmware 09.09.00 or later.
Only the ES-4400, ES-4700, Director 2/140 and Mi10k switches can have devices (with encrypted
or unencrypted data) directly attached.
The Defined Zone Database in McDATA Open Fabric mode supports the Frame Redirect zones. Frame
Redirection allows the following:
Creation of Frame Redirection zones and sending redirection zone updates to M-series switches
in McDATA Open Fabric mode (interopmode 3) and McDATA Fabric mode (interopmode 2)
Redirection of data traffic for hosts and targets attached to M-series switches
Creation of Frame Redirection zones and distribution of the defined database when in McDATA
Open Fabric mode (interopmode 3) only
Allows you to use the Host Offline Re-Key feature for M-series switches
NOTE:
McDATA Open Fabric mode fabric limitations apply. Hosts and targets can be both attached to
M-series switches or spread among B-series switches and M-series switches.
