HP StorageWorks Fabric Interoperability: Merging Fabrics Based on M-series and B-series Fibre Channel Switches Application Notes (AA-RUQQL-TE, November 2009)

4. Use the switchdisable command to disable the switch:
switch:admin> switchdisable
5. Enter the configure command to set the domain ID to a number in the range 97127.
switch:admin> configure
Configure...
Fabric Parameters (yes, y, no, n): [no] y
Domain (1...127): [1] 97
6. Enter the interopmode 2 command to enable interoperability.
switch:admin> interopmode 2
McDATA Fabric mode is enabled
The switch effective configuration will be lost.
The system will reboot to allow the change to take effect.
Do you want to continue? (yes, y, no, n): [no]y
The configuration is being saved - a system reboot will
cause the change to take effect.
Please disable switch before changing the interop mode.
A number of parameters are reset, McDATA Fabric mode is enabled, and the switch performs
an automatic reboot.
7. Repeat Step 3 through Step 6 on each B-series switch in the fabric.
For more information about the switch, see the switch documentation.
8. After enabling McDATA Fabric mode on all switches, physically connect the legacy M-series
switches to the B-series fabric, one at a time.
Reverting to Brocade Native mode on B-series switches
If you want to remove B-series switches from the merged fabric and then revert to Brocade Native
mode, you must meet the requirements listed in this section. Before you change from McDATA Fabric
or McDATA Open Fabric mode to Brocade Native mode, you must remove the B-series switch from
the M-series fabric (remove all ISLs).
When you change to Brocade Native mode:
Pre-existing configurations are cleared.
The switch must assume the zone configuration of the new or existing fabric it joins.
All configuration parameters return to their default states. The parameters can be modified using
the configure command.
The existing preferred domain ID configuration must be changed to a value in the user domain ID
range specified for Brocade Native mode. If the preferred domain ID is not in this range, the mode
conversion changes the domain ID to 1.
To enable Brocade Native mode or disable interoperability:
1. Connect to the switch and log in as admin.
2. Ensure that the switch is disabled or offline.
If necessary, enter the switchdisable command to disable the switch.
switch:admin> switchdisable
