switches used in a fabric with M-series switches.

Supported B-series switches can directly connect to the following M-series/McDATA directors and
switches:
• HP StorageWorks Director 2/64
• HP StorageWorks Director 2/140
• HP StorageWorks Edge Switch 2/24
• HP StorageWorks Edge Switch 2/32
• Sphereon 4700 Fabric Switch, Brocade M4700 Fabric Switch
• Sphereon 4400 Fabric Switch, Brocade M4400 Fabric Switch
• McDATA Intrepid 10000 Director, Brocade Mi10K Director
M-series firmware 9.7.2 or later must be running on all M-series switches in the fabric.
You can connect the following to a B-series switch for routing between fabrics:
• HP StorageWorks 400 Multi-protocol Router (400 MP Router)
• B-series MP Router Blade (FR4-18i)
• HP StorageWorks 1606 Extension SAN Switch
• HP StorageWorks DC SAN Director Multi-protocol Extension Blade
HP StorageWorks blade server SAN switch modules and switches can connect to the fabric using the
Access Gateway feature. Figure 1 shows a typical configuration.
