HP StorageWorks B-Series SAN infrastruc-
ture—switches/directors
The HP StorageWorks 400 Multi-Protocol Router/MP
Router blade is compatible with all HP-supported
B-Series SAN switches/directors, as specied in the
HP StorageWorks SAN Design reference guide.
HP StorageWorks 400 Multi-Protocol Router/MP
Router blade
HP StorageWorks 400 Multi-Protocol Router is a
xed-conguration 16-port 4-Gb F C switch with
two additional ports for FCIP connectivity. The HP
StorageWorks B-Series Multi-Protocol Router blade
is an option for the HP StorageWorks SAN Director
4/256. The blade has 18 ports: 16 Fibre Channel
and 2 Gigabit Ethernet. The blade, as an option to
the director, inherits the high availabilit y attributes of
the director platform. Both provide the following SAN
services: FC switching, FC-FC SAN routing (FCR) and
FCIP tunneling.

Description
HP Stora
geWorks Cluster Extension EVA software
Offers p
rotection against application downtime
from fault, failure, or site disaster by extending a
local cluster between data centers over metropolitan
distances. CLX EVA integrates with open-system
clust
ering software (Microso ft Cluster Service in the
Windo
ws 2003 environments and HP Ser viceguard
for Linux in Red Hat and SuSe Linux environments)
and HP StorageWorks Continuous Access EVA to
auto
mate failover and failback between sites.
HP Metrocluster / Continentalclusters with Continuous
Access EVA
Disaster tolerant solutions for HP-UX 11i. Both
solutions are built upon H P Serviceguard, HP-UX’s
foundation clustering software, and are integrated
with Continuous Access EVA. Both provide automatic
hands-free failover/failback of application services.
HP StorageWorks Fabric Manager A highly scalable, Java-based application that
manages multiple B-series switches and fabrics
in real-time, providing the essential functions
for efciently conguring, monitoring, dynamic
provisioning, and managing SAN fabrics on a
daily basis. Fabric Manager includes wizards for
deploying the B-Series Multi-Protocol router.

SAN Director provide additional B-Series software
licenses. The MP Router Blade inherits these licenses
from the Director, if in stalled. If FCIP functionalit y is
required, an additional license (as mentioned above
in the required component list) is required; again, if
the Director chassis is licensed, the blade will inherit
the license.
