HP StorageWorks Application Recovery Manager Administrator's Guide (T4395-96004, February 2008)

Backup
Creating Backup Specifications Using GUI
Chapter 348
To specify the cluster node from where you want to perform backup of
any instance residing on this node, right-click an Exchange writer and
select the node in the additional options dialog box under Back up any
available instance from node. See Figure 3-4 on page 44.
When backing up Replication Service instance, it may happen that it
cannot be backed up due to the following reasons:
The selected node is not available.
The status of the storage group to be backed up is not "Healthy".
Application Recovery Manager is not running on the selected node.
Vssbar.exe could not be started on the selected node.
To avoid the session failure, you can select the option Revert to active
node on failure in the same dialog box. The backup will be restarted
on the original server (active cluster node) and the original storage group
will be backed up. If Information Store instance is backed up, this option
is ignored.
Limitations In a CCR environment, if a replicated storage group (Replication
Service instance) is selected for backup, no other writer (for example,
filesystem writer or SQL Server writer) can be selected to be backed
up in the same backup session. This is because the two writers are
located on different servers and an Application Recovery Manager
limitation is that two different servers cannot be backed up in the
same session.
In an LCR or CCR environment, a storage group can control only one
store.
