HP Application Recovery Manager software Integration guide (March 2008)
Configuring SAP R/3 databases
You need to provide Application Recovery Manager with the following configuration
parameters:
• Oracle Server home directory
• SAP R/3 data home directory
• Oracle database user account (it is used by BRBACKUP during backup)
• Directory in which the SAP backup utilities are stored
• If Oracle 10g Instant Client is installed on the backup system, the directory in
which the SQL tools are installed.
Application Recovery Manager then creates the configuration file for the SAP R/3
database on the Cell Manager and verifies the connection to the database. On UNIX,
Application Recovery Manager also creates a soft link for the splitint program
from the directory that stores the SAP backup utilities to /opt/omni/lbin.
On Windows, Application Recovery Manager copies the program from
AppRM_home\bin to the directory that stores the SAP backup tools and renames
ob2smbsplit.exe to splitint.exe.
To configure an SAP R/3 database, use the Application Recovery Manager GUI or
CLI.
Before you begin
• Ensure that the SAP R/3 database is open.
Using the Application Recovery Manager GUI
1. In the Context List, click Backup.
2. In the Scoping Pane, expand Backup Specifications, right-click SAP R/3, and
click Add Backup.
3. In the Create New Backup dialog box, select the template.
In the Backup type drop-down list, select the Split mirror backup.
Click OK.
