HP Application Recovery Manager software A.06.10 Installation and licensing guide (March 2008)

If you have not configured either DNS or LMHOSTS, you get a warning message
to enable the DNS or the LMHOSTS resolution in the TCP/IP properties dialog.
Action
Check your DNS or LMHOSTS file configuration or activate it. See the
Verifying DNS connections within Application Recovery Manager cell on page 150.
Problem
The TCP/IP protocol is not installed and configured on your system
Application Recovery Manager uses the TCP/IP protocol for network communications;
it must be installed and configured on every client in the cell. Otherwise, the
installation is aborted.
Action
Check the TCP/IP setup. For information, see
Changing the default port number on page 177.
Verifying DNS connections within Application
Recovery Manager cell
DNS (Domain Name System) is a name service for TCP/IP hosts. The DNS is
configured with a list of host names and IP addresses, enabling users to specify
remote systems by host names rather than by IP addresses. DNS ensures proper
communication among the members of the Application Recovery Manager cell.
If DNS is not configured properly, name resolution problems may occur in the
Application Recovery Manager cell and the members will not be able communicate
with each other.
Application Recovery Manager provides the omnicheck command to verify the
DNS connections among the members of the Application Recovery Manager cell.
Although all possible connections in the cell can be checked with this command, it
is enough to verify the connections, which are essential in the Application Recovery
Manager cell, the Cell Manager to any other member of the cell and vice versa.
