HP Application Recovery Manager software Integration guide (March 2008)
DescriptionOption
Starts a third–party backint on the backup system, which then
backs up the replica to tape. You need to properly configure the
third–party software before you use this option. See Backing up
with third–party backup software for the prerequisites.
Start third party
backint
If the Application Recovery Manager backup is started on the
backup system, this option is selected by default. If started on
the application system, the option is disabled.
If selected, a rollforward recovery may require additional steps.
Include online
logs and control
file
If the backup is run on the backup system, the option is
automatically selected and cannot be deselected.
The command specified here is started by omnisap.exe on the
SAP R/3 system before the backup (pre-exec) or after it
Pre-exec,
Post-exec
(post-exec). The SAP R/3 system can be the application system
or backup system. It depends on where you start the backup. Do
not use double quotes. Provide only the name. The command
must reside in the directory:
Windows:
AppRM_home\bin
HP-UX:
/opt/omni/bin
For example, you can use the post-exec script to back up archive
logs and SAP history files using third–party backint. In this case,
the script could look similar to the following one:
c:\Oracle\SAP_instance\sys\exe\run\brarchive
-a -d -util_file –c force
