HP StorageWorks 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array release notes (XCS 6.220) (5697-8035, April 2009)
4. Click Restart.
The controller is restarted. At the conclusion of the restart the host port should be operating
normally.
C-Series MDS 9020 switch and HP Continuous Access EVA
The C-Series MDS 9020 switch is only supported with HP Continuous Access EVA when the EVA is
running XCS 6.000 or later.
Microsoft Windows MPIO DSM 3.00.00 is recommended
HP recommends that you upgrade to Windows MPIO DSM (Device Specific Module) version 3.00.00
or later, which provides the read optimization feature, for XCS 6.100 or later. The read optimization
feature enables all read requests to be sent to one controller and avoids potential performance impacts
due to proxied read requests. The minimum supported version is 2.00.02.
You can download MPIO/DSM from the following website:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/sanworks/multipathoptions/index.html
1. Select Browse by capacity or operating system.
2. Under Browse by OS, select Microsoft Windows.
3. Under FREE Integrations, select Multi-Pathing IO (MPIO) Device Specific Modules.
4. Select Windows MPIO DSM for EVA.
5. Select the appropriate Windows operating system.
6. Select HP MPIO Full Featured DSM for EVA4x00/6x00/8x00 families of Disk Arrays.
See the HP MPIO Full-Featured DSM for EVA Disk Arrays release notes for more information. The
release notes are included in the download file.
HP Continuous Access EVA configurations between XCS 6.220 and VCS 3.110
The following issues are known to affect HP Continuous Access EVA configurations between XCS
6.220 and VCS 3.110:
• DR log size cannot be changed
• Auto-Suspend option is disabled
• Default log size will be 132 MB even though a size of 1.9 TB is displayed
• To have an asynchronous data replication with arrays with VCS 3.110, first the DR Group creation
must be in synchronous mode and wait for normalization to complete and then the replication
mode needs to be changed to asynchronous mode.
• Redundancy (Vraid) level for the destination member should be same as the source for XCS 6.220
and VCS 3.110.
I/O issue with raw devices and Sun MPxIO multipathing
When the EVA is connected to a Sun Solaris host running Sun MPxIO Multipathing, an issue with the
MPxIO stack and the emlx driver may affect I/O with raw devices under certain conditions. To avoid
this issue, set the load balancing policy to none when using raw device access.
