4 Recovering an LSW1FC4P0 Card

Using Maintenance Mode

The LSW1FC4P0 card can become inoperable or unmanageable

for the following reasons:

• Firmware becomes corrupt

• IP address is lost

• Configuration becomes corrupt

• Password is forgotten

In these specific cases, you can recover the LSW1FC4P0 card

using maintenance mode. Maintenance mode temporarily returns

the interface card IP address to 10.0.0.1 and provides opportunities

to do the following:

• Exit the maintenance menu (option 0)

• Unpack a firmware image file in maintenance mode (option 1)

• Reset the network configuration in maintenance mode

(option 2)

• Reset user accounts in maintenance mode (option 3)

• Copy log files in maintenance mode (option 4)

• Remove the switch configuration in maintenance mode

(option 5)

• Remake the file system in maintenance mode (option 6)

• Reset the switch (option 7)

• Update the boot loader in maintenance mode (option 8)

To recover the LSW1FC4P0 card, do the following:

1. Place the LSW1FC4P0 card in maintenance mode by pressing

and holding the Maintenance button with a pointed tool for

approximately 10 seconds. Release the button when both the

Power LED and the System LED are steady green.

2. Establish a Telnet session with the interface card using the

maintenance mode IP address 10.0.0.1.
