Logging In to the Switch Module
To log in to a Switch Module through Telnet, complete the following steps:
1. Open a command-line window on the network management workstation and
enter the Telnet command followed by the switch IP address. The Telnet
window opens prompting you for a login.
# telnet ip_address
2. At the Login prompt, type the initial default user account, admin. At the
Password prompt, type the initial default password, password.
This user account provides full access to the Switch Module and its configuration.
After planning your fabric management needs and creating your own user
accounts, consider changing the password for this account. Refer to “Access
Authority” on page 11-133 for more information about authority levels. See the
“User” on page 11-303 for information about creating user accounts.
A Switch Module supports a combined maximum of 19 logins or sessions
reserved as follows:
4 logins or sessions for internal applications such as SNMP
9 high priority Telnet sessions
6 logins or sessions for management application logins and Telnet logins.
Additional logins will be refused.
NOTE:
Throughout this document, references in text to commands and keywords
use initial capitalization for clarity. Actual command and keyword entries are
case insensitive.
NOTE:
The IP addresses in the following step are the default IP address of the
Switch Modules; if new IP addresses have been assigned to the Switch
Modules, use these instead.
