Testing a Port
You can perform an internal or external offline port test using the Test Port
command. The following sections describe the test types, displaying test results,
and cancelling a test:

Offline Tests for Ports
An offline test is a disruptive test that exercises the port connections. You must
place the port in the diagnostics state using the Set Port command before starting
the test. There are two types of offline test: internal loopback and external
loopback.
 An internal loopback test applies to ports 0–7 and exercises the connections
within the port.
 An external loopback test applies only to ports 0–3 and exercises the port
and its transceiver. A transceiver with a loopback plug is required for the
port.
