Solving problems if the storage system d oes not come back

online (Step 10)

The system software upgrade should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. If the storage system

does not come back within 10 minutes, check the following:

• Determine if the p roblem is with HP Command View EVA by perform ing the troubleshooting steps

in "HP Comm

and View EVA problems" on page 61.

• Check any WEBES messages.

1. Double click on the System Event Analyzer icon on the management server to run WEBES.

2. Click Full View under either System Log or the appropriate storage system in the left navigation

pane.

• Chec k the storage system event logs.

1. Run HP Command View EVA and log in.

2. Select t

he storage system whose logs you want to view.

3. Click View events to view the event logs that can be displayed.

If none of the above recommendations resolves the problem, contact your HP-authorized service

representative for help.

Solving problems with multiple resynchronizations (Step 10)

During the upgrade process, both controllers perform a resynchronization simultaneously. This invokes a

fast restart of the controllers — bypassing execution of lengthy hardware diagnostics. This fast restart

allows the controllers to complete the resynchronization sequence before the host timeout period elapses

and the host becomes aware that the stora ge system is unavailable.

If an event o ccurs that causes a second resynchronization while the ﬁrmware upgrade resynchronization

is still in progress, the controller will terminate with a code of 0b 08 01 00.Thefollowingevents

cause the controller to resysnchronize automatically:

• Initialization of the storage system

• Setting debug ﬂags through the command line interface or OCP

• Occurrence of a disk group hardware problem on a Vraid1 virtual disk, or the return of a disk

during this condition

• Bad Block Replacement (BB R) per formed on a disk

• Memory allocation failure or other errors
