HP StorageWorks 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array release notes (XCS 6.110) (5697-7469, April 2008)
Supported Fibre Channel switches
For complete information on which Fibre Channel switches are suppor ted on XCS 6.100 or later, see the
HP StorageWork

Supported disks
Table 4 lists the supported Fibre Channel disks.
NOTE:
• The information in this table is current as of the date this document was published.
• T o maintain your storage system at the most curr ent configuration, HP recommends that all disk
drives use the recommended version of firmware.
• A minimum of eight disks is required to create a disk group. Additional disks may be added up
to the established disk group limits.
• A disk group cannot contain both online (high performance) disks and FATA disks. It must c ontain
only one type of d isk.
Using FATA disk drive s
FATA drives are designed for lower duty cycle applications such as near online data replication for
backup. These drives should not be used as a replacement for EVA's high performance, standard dut y
cycle, Fibre Channel drives. Doing so could shor ten the life of the drive. Download the following
document for m ore information on FATA drives, their uses and benefits:

NOTE:
FATA disk drives should not be used for the enhanced asynchronous replication write history log, which is
in constant use and is not a low duty cycle environment.
