Downgrading from XCS 6.110
Support for downgrading from XCS 6.110 depends on the minimum supported versions of your EVA
controller hardware. To downgrade, it may be necessary to reinitialize the storage system and restore all
data. Before proceeding with a downgrade, you must contact HP Services to determine if a downgrade
is allowed in your configuration and, if so, to schedule the procedure.
IMPORTANT:
If you are usi
ng a “-B” controller, you cannot downgrade to XCS 6.100 or earlier. The HSV200-B and
HSV210-B con
trollers require a mi nimum version of XCS 6.110.
Adding drive enclosures or expansion racks
Adding drive enclosures or expansion racks to an EVA must be performed by HP-authorized service
personnel. Adding an expansion rack must be completed while the array is offline. Contact HP Services
at h
ttp://www.hp.com/support for more information.
Enhancements
XCS 6.100 and later provide the following enhancements:
• Modified the functionality of creating multiple replicas to ensure data preservation and write
ordering of replicas in an Oracle ASM environment and in any database application or
environment that depends on write ordering. You can create multiple replicas using the ADD
MULTISNAP command, which is available through the HP StorageWorks Storage System
Scripting Utility.
• Allow changes to Host Port topology without requiring a controller restart.
• Enhanced array security by requiring entry of a keyword to uninitialize the array from the
operator control p anel.
• Enhanced DR group stability in HP Continuous Access EVA configurations by suspending implicit
LUN transitions for DR group members.
• Enhanced performance of VRaid5 virtual disks for sequential workloads of non-optimal length or
alignment.
• The ability to view the reconstruction progress of individual disk drives and disk groups in HP
Command View EVA.
You n eed HP Command View EVA 7.0 and either XCS 6.100 or 6.110 to enable the following
enhancements:
