HP StorageWorks 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array release notes (XCS 6.110) (5697-7469, April 2008)

There are two possible workarounds for this problem:
The issue and recommended workaround are described in the following Microsoft support ar ticle
entitled Shared disks are missing or are marked as "Failed" when you create a server cluster in
Windows Server 2003 (ID 886807), which can be downloaded from the following website:
h
ttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;886807
You can bypass this issue by setting the loa d balancing policy for each LUN to NLB using the
MPIO DSM CLI.

C-series switch settings for X CS 6.100
If C-series switches are not set correctly, the EVA host ports m ay not log back in to the fabric after
changes occur in the fabric. This issue involves the following C-series switch model families: 90xx,
91xx, 92xx, and 95xx.
To avoid this
situation when running XCS 6.000 or earlier, set the C-series switch port to F-Port and
specify the
speed (2Gb or 4Gb). Do not let the switch default to the Auto/Auto setting, which enables
the switch to negotiate the port setting and the op erating speed.
If the switch does not log into the array, disconnect and then reconnect the FC cable on the array or
the switch.
If the above
recommendations do not correct the problem, it will be necessary to restart the controller to
restore host port operation. You only need to restart the controller experiencing the host por t problem.
ThiscanbedonefromHPCommandViewEVAasfollows:
1. Open HP Command View EVA and click the icon of the appropriate storage system. You can select
either an i
nitialized or unintialized storage system.
2. On the Initialized Storage System Properties page, click Shut down.
3. Under Controller Shutdown, select the appropriate controller (A or B) for restar t.
4. Click Resta rt.
The cont
roller is restarted. After the restart, the host port should be operating normally.
NOTE:
If HP Com m and View EVA ca nnot be used to restart the storage system, use the controller operator
control panel (OCP). The Restart option is located under the Shutdown Options menu on the OCP.
Enabling Boot from SAN for Windows direct connect
Booting a Windows host over a direct connect link from a virtual disk presented by HSV200-B
or HSV210-B controllers is not supported. This restriction applies to both Emulex a nd Qlogic
HBAs, and all supported versions of Windows. For more information, see HP StorageWorks
4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array connectivity 6.1B for Windows release notes.See
Supported o perating system specications on page 7 for the link to this document.
McData Intrepid 10000 Director switch and EVA
The McData Intrepid 10000 Director switch is not supported when directly connected to the EVA. It is
supported when the EVA is connected to a nother Director switch or an Edge switch in the fabric while the
Intrepid 10000 Director switch is also in the fabric.
