The EVA4000/4100 and EVA6000/6100 have a maximum capacity of 87 T B. The EVA8000/8100 has a maximum
capacity of 219 TB. This applies to the EVA4000/6000/8000 running XCS 6.100 or 6.110 and the EVA4100/6100/8100
running XCS 6.110.
Important notes and workarounds
This section identifies important notes and workarounds for the EVA4x00/6x00/8x00 hardware and XCS
software. Sim
ilar information for related software applications is included in the following documents:
• HP StorageWorks Command View EVA release notes
• HP StorageWorks EVA replication software consolidated release notes
These documents can be downloaded from the following website: h
ttp://www.hp.com/support/manuals.
Click Storage Software under Storage and then select your product.
Any workarounds pertaining to the host operating system can be found in the operating system
connectivit y release notes. See “Supported operating system specifications”onpage7.
Host port connection limit on B-series 3200 and 3800 switches
The EVA4x00/6x00/8x00 is limited to a maximum of three host ports on a single B-series 3200 and
3800 switch running version 3.2.x. HP recommends not exceeding more than one storage host por t
connection on a single switch. If you are required to connect more than one storage host port to a single
affected switch, separate the connection into different quadrants. Connections are typically dropped
following an array controller resynchronization or when an event impacts the fabric, such as rebooting or
adding a switch.
Use the following options to avoid or m anage the port limitation:
• For all hosts, zone by HBA as defined in the HP StorageWorks SAN d esign reference guide.
• Limit affected switches to only one HBA connection per host.
• Limit placement of the switch as an edge device and not part of the core.
If the switch drops a connection, reestablish as follows:
1. Disconnect the Fibre Channel cable from the failed port.
2. Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the cable. This will cause the port to relog into the fabric
and reestablish connection to the array.
Logsizesettingwhenusingafull2TBlog
WhenthesizeofaDRgroupis2TBorlargerandtheDRgroupisinsynchronousmode,acontroller
termination will occur if the DR group log becomes full. To avoid termination, set the value of the D R
log size to the maximum (2,097,151 M B) in HP Command View EVA. During termination, the DR group
members move to the other controller, the expected full copy and lo g deallocation beg ins, and the
terminated controller restarts. Setting the log size to the maximum value instead of keeping the default
prevents an overrun of the log which causes a controller termination.
Windows 2003 MSCS cluster in stallation
The MSCS cluster installation wizard on Windows 2003 may fail to find the shared quorum device and
disk resources may not be auto-created by the cluster setup wizard. This is a known Windows Cluster
Setup issue that has existed since Windows 2003 was released.
