HP StorageWorks disk enclosure power supply replacement instructions (533482-001, March 2009)
• Analyze any failure messages received. HP fault monitoring software
provides a recommended action.
• For the EVA only: Check the status using HP Command View EVA:
1. In the Navigation pane, select Storage system > Hardware >
Disk Enclosure.
2. In the Disk Enclosure Properties pane, select the Power tab.

The Operational State of power supply 1 or 2 should be
Failed.
4. To help identify the correct enclosure, click the General tab, and
then select Locate > Locate ON to illuminate the enclosure blue
UID indicator.
• MSA6X/7X only: Check the power supply bi-color LED.
• Green = Power turned on and power supply functioning normally.
• Amber = Standby (auxiliary power present)
• Blinking amber = Power to this power supply not present
• Off = One or more of the following conditions exist: AC power
unavailable, power supply failed, or power supply exceeded
current limit
• EVA only: Check the power supply bi-color LED.
• Green = Flashing when powering up. Solid during normal oper-
ation.
• Amber = Solid indicates a fault condition, and that the power
supply may need to be replaced.
Removing a power supply
1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the power supply to be
replaced.
2. Move the mounting latch to the left (1, Figure 2), grasp the handle,
and pull the power supply out a short distance.
3. Position one hand under the power supply, and with the other hand,
pull the power supply out of the enclosure (2).

Installing a power supply
1. Remove any connector cover that may be protecting the AC power
connector on the new power supply.
2. Slide the power supply into the enclosure until a click is detected
when fully seated.

3. Connect the AC power cord to the power supply.
Verifying proper operation
After replacing the power supply, check the following to verify the
component is operating properly:
NOTE:
Wait one minute for the system to check the component status.
• The green LED should become lit as soon as the power cord is
plugged in.
• EVA only: From HP Command View EVA, navigate to the component
as described in Verifying component failure and check the status. It
should be
Good.
