Description
Fabric OS 7.1.0c is a patch release based on Fabric OS 7.1.0b that includes the same hardware
support, features, and fixes supported in 7.1.0b, plus additional fixes important to HP for 7.1.0c.
Fabric OS 7.1.0c is FICON qualified. See the “Additional considerations for FICON environments”
(page 36) section for feature details and notes on deployment of FICON environments.
NOTE: Starting with Fabric OS 7.1, the HP B-series MP Router Blade (FR4-18i) and the HP SAN
Director 6 Port 10 Gb ISL Blade (FC10-6) are no longer supported on the HP DC SAN Backbone
Director/HP DC04 SAN Director Switches.
The Fabric OS 7.1.0a release introduced support for the following new hardware platforms:
• HP StoreFabric SN6500B 16Gb FC Switch
This new switch is an enterprise-class FC switch platform that supports the following:
◦ Up to 96 16 Gb/s FC ports that support 4/8/16 Gb/s FC for open systems.
◦ 48-port base switch with two 24-port Ports-On-Demand (POD) licenses (HP StoreFabric
SN6500B 16Gb 24-port FC Upgrade LTU).
◦ Capabilities associated with the Adaptive Networking and Server Application Optimization
licenses are included with this switch by default.
◦ Key software functionality applicable to a high-end enterprise-class switch including:
Trunking, Extended Fabrics, Fabric Watch, APM, Integrated Routing, NPIV, Virtual
Fabrics and more.

– Advance functionality unique to 16 Gbps platforms, such as D_Port diagnostics,
In-flight encryption/compression, VC level automatic buffer credit recovery, FEC, etc.
The switch does not support:
◦ Access Gateway functionality
◦ FICON
• HP StoreFabric Enhanced Multiprotocol Extension Blade
◦ IPsec support for the XGE0 port has been added to this blade enabling creation of IP
Security enabled FCIP tunnels.
• New core processor blades for upgrading the 8 Gb/s HP DC SAN Backbone Director and
the HP DC04 SAN Director switches chassis to a 16 Gb/s platform
◦ HP StoreFabric DC04 SAN Director 16 Gb Core Processor Blade
◦ HP StoreFabric DC Backbone Director 16 Gb Core Processor Blade
