HP B-series Fabric OS 7.1.0c Release Notes (5697-2892, October 2013 - includes all 7.1.0x versions)
Other recommendations
Adaptive Networking/flow-based QoS prioritization
• Any 8 Gb/s or 4 Gb/s FC platform running Fabric OS 6.2.2e or earlier version of firmware
cannot form an E_Port with a 16 Gb/s FC platform when Adaptive Networking QoS is enabled
at both ends of the ISL.
Users must disable QoS at either end of the ISL in order to successfully form an E_Port under
this condition.
Users can disable QoS using the portcfgQos --disable command. See the Fabric OS
Command Reference Guide for specific details of the portcfgQoS command.
• When using QoS in a fabric with 4 Gb/s ports or switches, Fabric OS 6.2.2 or later must be
installed on all products in order to pass QoS information. E_Ports from the DC SAN Backbone
Director or DC04 SAN Director to other switches must come up after 6.x is running on those
switches.
Access Gateway device-based mapping in ESX environments
Users who want to utilize Access Gateway’s Device-based mapping feature in the ESX environments
should refer to the Brocade Tech Note Using Brocade Access Gateway Device-Based Mapping in
VMware ESX Server Environments for best implementation practices. This document can be
downloaded from:
http://www.hp.com/support/manuals
Under storage, select Storage networking, and then select the appropriate switch under B-series
Switches.
Access Gateway Cascading
Access Gateway cascading is not supported on the HP SN6000B 16 Gb FC Switch or the HP
SN3000B 16 Gb FC Switch.
Brocade HBA/Adapter Compatibility
Brocade HBA/Adapter should be using driver version 2.3.0.2 or later when attached to 16 Gb/s
ports on Brocade switches.
D_Port
• Fabric OS 7.0.0a or later supports the execution of D_Port tests concurrently on up to eight
ports on the switch.
• Support of D_Port is extended to R_RDY flow control mode. The R_RDY mode is useful for
active DWDM links that do not work in VC_RDY or EXT_VC_RDY flow control modes.
• A new sub-option -dwdm is added to portcfgdport --enable CLI to configure D_Port
over active DWDM links. The -dwdm option will not execute the optical loopback test while
performing D_Port tests, because the active DWDM links do not provide the necessary support
to run optical loopback tests.
Encryption behavior for the HP Encryption SAN Switch and HP DC Switch Encryption FC Blade
• For crypto tape operations, make sure you use Emulex FC HBA firmware/drivers
2.82A4/7.2.50.007 or higher. Use of a lower level firmware/driver may result in hosts not
being able to access their tape LUNs through a crypto target container.
• If the migration to Fabric OS 7.0.0a or later does not occur from 6.4.1a, 6.4.1b, or 6.4.2a
or later, the following message is displayed: HP Encryption SAN Switch will reboot
if auto reboot is enabled otherwise it needs to be rebooted manually
