HP PCIe IO Accelerator for ProLiant Servers

the operation.
4. Type the following command at the command prompt:
fio-update-iodrive
<path>iodrive_version.fff -d /dev/fct#
(where <path> is the location of the PCIe IO
Accelerator firmware--the default is
C:\Program Files\HP StorageWorks IO
Accelerator\Firmware
.
The version is the numerical version of the driver (higher is newer.) The
-d /dev/fct#
identifies the PCIe IO Accelerator to update, where # is its PCIe bus number. (Use
fio-status
at a command prompt to view this number.)
5. All three external LED indicators light up during the update process.
6. Restart the server to finish the firmware upgrade.
Defragmentation
The PCIe IO Accelerator does not need to be defragmented. Some versions of
Windows, however, run defragmentation as a scheduled task automatically. If
necessary, you should turn off automatic defragmentation.
Unmanaged Shutdown Issues
Unmanaged shutdowns due to power loss or other circumstances can force the PCIe
IO Accelerator to perform a consistency check during the reboot. This may take
several minutes or more to complete and is shown by a progress percentage during
Windows startup.
You can cancel this consistency check by pressing Esc during the first 15 seconds after
the Consistency Check message appears at the prompt. If you choose to cancel the
check, however, the PCIe IO Accelerator(s) will remain unavailable to users until the
check is done. (You can perform this check later on using the PCIe IO Accelerator
Management Tool’s Attach function).
Although data written to the PCIe IO Accelerator will not be lost due to unmanaged
shutdowns, important data structures may not have been properly committed to the
drive. This consistency check repairs these data structures.
Disabling Auto-Attach
The PCIe IO Accelerator Windows driver defaults to automatically attach (auto-attach)
all installed PCIe IO Accelerators to the operating system. (If the PCIe IO Accelerator
does not attach, it will not be available to applications or users.) You can disable
auto-attach to assist in troubleshooting or diagnostics.
To disable auto-attach:
1. Open the PCIe IO Accelerator Utilities folder. (The default location is
C:\Program Files\HP
StorageWorks IO Accelerator\Utils
\).
