HP 3PAR Management Plug-In and Recovery Manager 2.4 P01 for VMware vSphere Release Notes

This document provides release notes for HP 3PAR Management Plug-in and Recovery Manager
Software for VMware vSphere. A list of known issues is provided that may be visible to the customer.
Read this entire document before installing the product.
Supported platforms

The current release of Recovery Manager server is not internationalized, however it supports installation
on Windows server with English and Japanese locale with operations in English mode only.
Host environment requirements

• .NET Framework 4.0 or later—Full Version.
System/Security Patch requirements
The system administrator of vCenter Server is required for plug-in registration. For VMware vCenter
Server patch requirements, refer to VMware’s release notes for vCenter Server.
HP 3PAR Management Plug-in and Recovery Manager Software for VMware
vSphere requirements
To download the 3PAR Management Plug-in, the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in must be installed on the
computer running the vSphere client.
HP 3PAR Management Plug-in and Recovery Manager Software for VMware vSphere requires a
snapshot area for each volume that needs to be backed up. Snapshot space for a new Virtual Volume
must be manually allocated, either as a static percentage of the base Virtual Volume or configured to
auto-grow on-demand as required by changed data blocks. This is accomplished by mapping the
snapshot space to a Common Provisioning Group (CPG). Refer to the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage
Concepts Guide and HP 3PAR Command Line Interface Administrator’s Manual for detailed information
on Virtual Copies and allocation methods for snapshot space of a Virtual Volume. If the volume is
provisioned through HP 3PAR Management Plug-in, select a template that includes snapshot CPG.
Pre-requisites
• Admin privileges are required to access the Administration tool, HP 3PAR Host Explorer and the
scheduler.
• VMware Tools must be installed on the Guest OS to successfully create application consistent
Virtual Copies.
HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage certificate
HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage enables management of SSL certificate, and enforces certificate validation
by the host and client applications to establish a secure connection.
HP 3PAR CLI and HP 3PAR OS versions 2.3.1 MU5 P35, 3.1.1 MU3 P27, 3.1.2 MU3 P16, or later,
supports a self-signed 2048-bit RSA SSL certificate for HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage. You must upgrade
to one of these versions to enforce certificate validation.
