Service Processor Placement
The Service Processor (SP) is located at the bottom of the cabinet and is designed to support all
actions required for maintenance of the storage system, providing real-time automated monitoring.
The SP also supports remote access to diagnose and resolve potential problems.
Because the SP is capable of supporting multiple storage systems at the same operating site, not
all cabinets contain a SP. However, when present, the SP is usually installed directly above the
PDUs and below the drive cage (see Figure 20 (page 23)). The SP is powered internally by the
storage system and does not require an external power connection. When a cabinet does not
include a SP, a filler panel covers the area of the cabinet that the SP normally occupies.
