HP 3PAR Peer Motion Guide

Launching the HP 3PAR Peer Motion Utility
Double-click the HP 3PAR Peer Motion Utility shortcut created on your Desktop.
To log into the CLI:
1. For the IP address, type the IP address of the system running the HP 3PAR Peer Motion Utility
server.
2. For the USER NAME, type the user name which the HP 3PAR Peer Motion Utility server can
log into.
3. For the PASSWORD, type the user password.
The following is optional: Port — enter the port which the CLI should communicate to the HP 3PAR
Peer Motion Utility server. Default value is 2390.

Using the HP 3PAR Peer Motion Utility Commands
The following are the general guidelines and execution order of the commands for migration using
the HP 3PAR Peer Motion Utility.
General Information
The CLI commands and their arguments are case insensitive, but the values that the command
argument takes, such as user name, password, volume name, host name, etc. are case sensitive.
For usage details a specific command, use the <command name> -help option.
If any value with a space to be specified in commands, it needs to be enclosed in double
quotes (“).
If any value to be specified has double quotes, it can be escaped using backslash (“\”).
If any value to be specified has (“\”), it can be escaped using another backslash (“\\”).
Any hyphen (“-“) when specified within a value of parameter should also be escaped by
backslash(“\”).
Information about sub-steps under execution will be in o/p.
ERROR or SUCCESS of the overall command execution is displayed as last statement.
All show commands have csvtable option, which when used will print delimited output.
All show commands have filewrite option, which when used will print delimited output
to .txt file.
Any error executing a command will display as: ERROR: <Error code>:<Error
message>:<Resolution code>:<Resolution message>
When migrating a host, ensure that the host OS has one of the following values:
hpux
ibmaix
solaris
linux
vmware
