HP 3PAR Peer Motion Guide

8. IMPORTANT:
Re-run a scan on the host systems to discover the new volume.
Verify that the host paths to the destination system are active.
On fabric, remove zone Z3 and add zone Z4 upon successful preparation completion.
9. startmigration migrationid <migrationid>
10. showmigrationdetails migrationid <migrationid>.
This completes the successful flow of the migration.
The following optional commands are to be used to remove the added source and destination
storage systems:
1. removesource -uid <uid> -type 3par
2. removedestination -uid <uid>
NOTE: Removing a source/destination storage system also removes the migration history for the
respective source/destination storage system.
Online Windows Cluster Migration
Virtual peer ports must be created as NPIV ports for the Peer Motion configured physical peer
ports. The number of NPIV ports that should be created in each peer port is twice the number of
nodes that are being migrated. For example migration of two node cluster requires that each peer
port be configured with four NPIV ports.
Creation of NPIV ports and zoning them to the respective peer ports is a prerequisite for Windows
Cluster Online migration. The destination system must be a HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 or HP 3PAR
StoreServ 10000 and must be running HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 or later. Cluster sizes of up to four hosts
are supported.
Pre-requisites
Creation of NPIV ports and zoning them to the respective peer ports is a prerequisite for Windows.
Virtual peer ports must be created as NPIV ports using the following commands on HP 3PAR OS
CLI. For example: #controlport config peer virt_ports 8 2:2:1 (where 8 is the
number of NPIV ports and 2:2:1 is peer port number)
To perform Online Windows Cluster migration, follow the steps and execute the commands in the
following order:
1. addsource -mgmtip <ipaddress> -user <username> -password <password>
-type 3PAR
2. showsource
3. adddestination -mgmtip <ipaddress> <username> -password <password>
-type 3PAR
4. showdestination
5. showconnection
6. createmigration -sourceuid <sourceuid> -srcvolmap
[{"<volumename>","<destinationprovisioning>","<destinationCPG>"}]
-migtype online
7. showmigration -migrationid <migrationid>
NOTE: In case there is a need to abort the prepared migration, use the removemigration
command for the same: removemigration -migrationid <migrationid>.
