HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 CLI Administrator's Manual
To upgrade a SED, issue the upgradepd [-f] [-skiptest] {-a | -w <WWN>... |
<PD_ID>...} command, where:
• -f: Upgrades the PD firmware without requiring confirmation.
• -skiptest: Skips the 10 second diagnostic test normally completed after each PD upgrade.
• -a:: Specifies that all PDs with valid IDs, and whose firmware is not current, are upgraded.
If this option is not specified, then either the -w <WWN> option or the PD_ID specifier must
be issued on the command line.
• -w <WWN>...: Specifies that the firmware of either one or more PDs, identified by their
WWNs, is upgraded. If this option is not specified, then either the -a option or the PD_ID
specifier must be issued on the command line.
• <PD_ID>...: specifies that the firmware of either one or more PDs identified by their IDs
(PD_ID) is upgraded. If this specifier is not used, then the -a option or the -w <WWN> option
must be issued on the command line.
If the disk is locked, it will be unlocked. The digitally signed firmware will be downloaded.
Dismissing an Existing SED
To remove the physical disk definitions from system use, issue the dismisspd <PD_ID>...,
where <PD_ID>... specifies the PDs, identified by integers, to be removed. For example, to
dismiss a PD with ID 1, issue the following command:
cli% dismisspd 1
After the system manager (sysmgr) dismisses the drive, it is cryptographically erased (provided
data encryption was enabled).
For more information about the dismisspd command, see the HP 3PAR Command Line Interface
Reference.
Data Encryption Commands
Table 9 Data Encryption Commands
DescriptionCommand
Enable data encryption on SEDs.controlencryption enable
Back up the authentication key file.
Back up the authentication key file.controlencryption backup
Restore the key-file from an external source to the controller nodes in the
StoreServ system. This is needed only if there is a catastrophic problem and
the key-files on all nodes are destroyed or corrupted.
controlencryption restore
Show the data encryption status. (See “Showing Data Encryption Status” (page
121).)
controlencryption status
Change the authentication key.controlencryption rekey
Back up the authentication key file.
Dismiss and remove a drive from the system. This also performs a cryptographic
erase operation on the drive.
dismisspd
Used to replace drives, especially in HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 Storage systems.servicemag
