HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2 MU3 Patch 16 Release Notes (QL226-97105)
This release note document describes the modification and enhancements for Patch 16. This is a
recommended patch and is only intended to be applied to HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.484 (MU3). Only an
authorized HP Service Provider should perform this maintenance procedure.
This patch is part of enhancements of HP 3PAR Storage System which collectively enable management
of SSL certificate. Upon completion of the upgrade to this patch, a new self-signed 2048-bit RSA SSL
certificate will be created. HP 3PAR Remote CLI clients, HP 3PAR Management Console, 3PAR Recovery
Manager, and/or any other client applications communicating to the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage
system over SSL must be upgraded to enforce certificate validation.
IMPORTANT: Before installing this patch, you must apply patch 4.1.0 P009 to the Service Processor
(SP). See “Prerequisites” (page 3). In addition, you must also upgrade several host client applications,
as shown in “Required order for upgrade and installation of software components” (page 4).
1.1 Prerequisites
Patch 4.1.0 MU2 P009 must be applied to the Service Processor for proper installation of Patch 16.
During Patch 16 installation, it generates an initial self-signed certificate. SPOCC and SPMAINT provide
a new interface to display the information about the certificate. It is the responsibility of the administrator
to distribute this information to users. See the SP 4.1.0 MU2 P009 Upgrade Instructions for details.
To obtain a copy of this documentation, go to the HP 3PAR Service Processors Manuals page, and
then perform a search for this document.
1.2 Supported platforms
The HP 3PAR Configuration Matrix for HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2 contains information about supported
hardware and software platforms. For a list of supported versions of each operating system, see the
Single Point of Connectivity Knowledge (SPOCK) website http://www.hp.com/storage/spock.
For information about previous HP 3PAR Operating System and Service Processor patches, see the
HP 3PAR Operating System Manuals and HP 3PAR Service Processors Manuals pages.
1.3 Verifying the patch installation
To perform the verification of proper Patch 16 installation from inside the Service Processor, you should
connect to the array and execute the showversion command from within the SP menu. Otherwise
a prompt displays for the SSL certificate that is generated during Patch 16 installation.
After installation of Patch 16, you can verify the patch installation using an Interactive CLI session from
within the Service Processor. Issue the CLI command, showversion -a -b to verify that Patch 16
is listed.
