What's New in HP 3PAR Online Import for EMC Storage
This is the initial release of the HP 3PAR Online Import for EMC Storage. The product uses a
migration tool called Online Import Utility (OIU) to migrate data from an EMC Storage system to
an HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage system.
• HP 3PAR Online Import enhancement includes adding online data migration support from
source legacy EMC VNX (first generation) family of arrays and EMC CLARiiON CX4 family
of storage systems to HP3PAR StoreServ Storage systems.
• Orchestration is available using a simple, scriptable command interface tool called HP 3PAR
Online Import Utility for EMC Storage, available as a free download utility from HP Software
Depot.
• Allows for online data migration from EMC Storage systems to HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage
systems with minimal disruption to hosts.
• Works with existing Online Import licenses that are bundled with HP 3PAR OS Suite that ships
with every new HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000, HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 and All-flash-array, HP
3PAR StoreServ 7450 Storage systems.
Supported Platforms
The supported platforms include the HP 3PAR Operating System and host platforms to manage the
migration. For details, see the Single Point of Connectivity Knowledge for HP Storage Products

Known Issues with the HP 3PAR Online Import Utility for EMC Storage

When a migration fails due to limited space on the destination system, the migration
will not be able to be removed. See the example of the error:

The OIU gives no warning or error for migrating into a CPG with a growth limit that
is not big enough for LUNs. When a CPG does not have enough space for the
CPG space allocation

volume being migrated, there is no error message and migration is not prevented
from starting.
For example: Initiating migration of a LUN that is larger than 8GB to a CPG with
an 8GB growth limit, the createmigration and startmigration commands
will both indicate “Success” but viewing the CPG from the HP 3PAR Management
Console will show the CPG state as “Failed”.
