HP 3PAR FalconStor CDP NSS Implementation Guide

Console is the administration tool used for discovery of HP 3PAR LUNs and facilitates a
FalconStor-centric method of storage allocation to SAN Clients on the storage network. All SAN
Clients gain access to storage resources through a FalconStor storage server. Additional FalconStor
storage servers can be integrated in order to provide high availability to storage resources.
FalconStor CDP/NSS Setup
Install and configure the FalconStor CDP/NSS environment according to documentation and
recommendations provided by FalconStor. When planning your deployment, choose a configuration
which satisfies your performance, high availability, and storage requirements.
The FalconStor CDP/NSS storage server is equipped with several Fibre Channel ports that can be
configured for different purposes. Ports can be configured to interface with storage arrays or with
SAN Clients. The ports configured to connect to an HP 3PAR Storage System are commonly referred
to as initiator ports. The other ports that service SAN clients are commonly referred to as target
ports or dual mode ports since they serve both clients as targets and the underlying physical storage
targets.
Perform the basic steps required by FalconStor to install the appliance. Once the appliance is
available on the network, use the FalconStor Management Console to perform additional tasks to
prepare the system for integration with the HP 3PAR Storage System. Identify the Fibre Channel
World Wide Port Names (WWPN) and assign port roles as initiators or dual mode based on their
intended function.
