1 Introduction This implementation guide provides information for configuring FalconStor CDP/NSS appliances via Fibre Channel fabric to use HP 3PAR Storage Systems as a storage back end. Required: For predictable performance and results with your HP 3PAR Storage System, the information in this guide must be used in concert with the documentation set provided by HP for the HP 3PAR Storage System and the documentation provided by the vendor for their respective products.

2 Configuring the HP 3PAR Storage System and FalconStor CDP/NSS for Fibre Channel This chapter describes how to establish a connection between an HP 3PAR Storage System and a FalconStor CDP/NSS host using Fibre Channel and how to set up the fabric when running InForm OS 3.1.x, OS 2.3.x, and OS 2.2.x. For information on setting up physical connectivity for a particular HP 3PAR Storage System, see the appropriate HP installation manual.
Console is the administration tool used for discovery of HP 3PAR LUNs and facilitates a FalconStor-centric method of storage allocation to SAN Clients on the storage network. All SAN Clients gain access to storage resources through a FalconStor storage server. Additional FalconStor storage servers can be integrated in order to provide high availability to storage resources.
Figure 1 HA Cluster of FalconStor CDP/NSS Servers Configuring Ports for InForm OS 3.1.x Configure the desired HP 3PAR Storage System server ports as fabric target ports that will connect to ports designated as initiators on the FalconStor CDP/NSS appliance. In this example, two ports were configured as fabric targets. For high availability, the ports were located on alternate HP 3PAR Storage System nodes.
