5 Booting from the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage
HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage Requirements
Booting from the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage is supported in fabric connect mode only.
OS X requires that the SAN Boot LUN is LUN ID 0.
Booting from the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage Using ATTO HBAs
When booting from the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage using an ATTO HBA, complete the following
steps:
1. Install the OS locally on the OS X host.
2. Start the ATTO ConfigTool. For each channel on the HBA, click the NVRAM tab as shown in
Figure 1 (page 16).
3. Set Boot Driver to Enabled and then click Commit.

4. Reboot the OS X host.
5. Export a vLUN with LUN ID 0 that is at least the same size as the current operating system.
6. Ensure that the new vLUN is visible to the host.
7. Format the new vLUN using the OS X Disk Utility. The recommended file system type is HFS+
described as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
8. Clone the OS from the local hard drive to the target LUN 0.
