HP 3PAR 3.1.3 Downgrade Instructions
5 Performing an Offline Downgrade
The following procedure guides you through an offline downgrade of the storage system.
1. Make sure that you have access to the console for a node.
2. Login to the SP as spvar.
3. From the SPmaint main menu, enter: =4.7.3 and then press Enter.
4. Select the desired storage system and press Enter.
5. Select the offline update, enter: y and then press Enter.
6. Select the number corresponding to 3.1.2.484, and then press Enter.
7. To proceed with the downgrade, enter: y.
8. To confirm the downgrade, enter the number displayed and then press Enter.
9. Verify that the IDE disks are updated successfully.
NOTE: All the nodes will be rebooted. Monitor the node console for the BIOS to be flashed
with the previous level.
NOTE: The reboot process takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
NOTE: When the storage system completes rebooting, the cage and PD firmware might be
in an unknown state.
10. Enter: showpd -showcols
Id,CagePos,Node_WWN,Manuf,FW_Rev,Serial,FW_Status and verify that the
FW_status column indicates that the firmware is shown as current.
NOTE: Sample output is for example only. In this example the showpd -showcols
Id,CagePos,Node_WWN,Manuf,FW_Rev,Serial,FW_Status command indicates
current in the FW_status column for PDs.
The output of PDs at the current firmware version on after the downgrade to 3.1.2 MU3:

11. To examine the firmware status, enter: showcage -d.
NOTE: The showld command can be issued to identify the Preserved Data LDs.
