Moving Hosts
InForm OS Version 2.2.4 3PAR InForm OS Concepts Guide
3 If and when the host reappears on the same port, the InForm OS will change the state of
the host to active again. At that time, the host will have access to all previously exported
volumes as before.
B.5 Moving Hosts
Prior to moving the host to another server port, check the new port configuration and verify
that the persona of the new port is the same as the source port.
To move the host to another InServ Storage Server port, you must do the following:
1 Use the InForm CLI command
servicehost copy to create an inactive host on the
storage server port to which you wish to move the host. The inactive host created with this
command will have the exact settings of the active host that is to be relocated to this port.
The
servicehost copy command will automatically export all volumes that are currently
exported to the active host to the new, inactive host once created. See Using the
servicehost command on page B.6 and the InForm OS Command Line Interface Reference
for details on using the
servicehost copy command.
2 Issue the servicehost remove command to remove all VLUNs associated with the old
host port.
3 Disconnect the host from the storage server and then reconnect it to the new port.
When the storage server discovers the host on the new port by matching the WWN of the
inactive host you created in step 1 to the WWN of the host server, the InForm OS
automatically changes the state of the host from inactive to active. The host has
immediate access to all volumes exported to it.
NOTE: It is not necessary to unexport the volumes from the active host. See
Chapter 9, Virtual Volumes Exports to learn how to export and unexport volumes.
