15.8.3 Compacting CPGs
As with logical disks, CPGs can also be compacted to consolidate and reclaim unused space.
X To consolidate space in a common provisioning group (CPG), issue the compactcpg
<CPG_name>
command. Refer to the InForm OS Command Line Interface Reference for
detailed information about this command.
15.9 Tracking Progress
While running dynamic optimization tasks, you can check the status of each task by issuing the
showtask command. The output from this command allows you to determine the following:
Each tasks’ start and completion time and date.
Whether a task has completed or failed.
The number of phases (processes) involved for each task, and in what phase a specific task is
running.
The number of steps involved for each phase, and on what step a specific task is running.
Issuing the
showtask command displays tasks started within the last 24 hours.
If you wish to view a task or set of tasks that were started more than 24 hours ago, issue the
showtask -t <hours> command, where <hours> specifies the number of hours to trace
back. Refer to the InForm OS Command Line Interface Reference for detailed information
about this command.
15.10 Troubleshooting
When performing a dynamic optimization task, errors can occur that can interrupt the task.
Depending on the cause of interruption, you can either roll back or restart a dynamic
optimization task.
NOTE: Roll back and restart operations should not be performed on thinly
provisioned virtual volumes.
