13.3.5 tune_vv
The tune_vv task type is used to track tunealdvv operations performed with the 3PAR
System Tuner
tunealdvv command. The 3PAR System Tuner is an optional InForm OS feature
that allows you to identify over-utilized physical disks as candidates for load balancing and
perform load balancing on them. The
tunealdvv command enables you to perform load
balancing and to dynamically change certain volume parameters. Use of this feature requires a
3PAR System Tuner license.
You can suspend an active
tune_vv task using the canceltask command and the task ID as
follows:
AFter cancelling the task, you can perform one of two additional operations:
You can restart the tunealdvv operation by using
tunealdvv -restart. This starts a tunevv_restart task, which is described further in
the following sections.
You can completely reverse the tunealdvv operation by using
tunealdvv -rollback. This starts a tune_vv_rollback task, which is described
further in the following sections.
For
tune_vv tasks, there are two phases:
Phase 1: storing away region move information for future restarts and/or rollbacks.
Phase 2: performing the actual region moves.
Phase 3: deleting the information stored in Phase 1.
The number of steps in the phase is equal to the number of regions being moved.
For more information on 3PAR System Tuner, the
tunealdvv command and examples of
tune_vv tasks, see Chapter 15, Using Dynamic Optimization.
