InForm OS Version 2.3.1 MU1 3PAR InForm Operating System Release Notes
2.4 What’s New in the InForm OS
New features included in the 3PAR InForm OS Release 2.3.1 MU1 are described below.
2.4.1 Support for 3PAR Adaptive Optimization
Beginning with InForm OS 2.3.1 MU1, support for 3PAR Adaptive Optimization is enabled.
3PAR Adaptive Optimization is a granular, policy-driven, autonomic storage tiering software
solution that delivers service level optimization for enterprises and cloud data centers at the
lowest possible cost while increasing agility and minimizing risk.
2.4.2 Support for Solid State Drives
With InForm OS 2.3.1 MU1, 3PAR now supports 50GB STEC MACH8 IOPS Solid State Drives
(SSD), a new class of cost- and power-efficient SSDs, as a new storage tier within a fully-tiered
3PAR F-Class and T-Class InServ Storage Server. SSD Drive Magazines are mixable within a drive
chassis populated with existing Fibre Channel or Nearline drive magazines.
For high performance SSD Volumes, use RAID 1.
2.4.3 Support for 600GB 15K Fibre Channel Drives
Support for higher-capacity 600GB 15K Fibre Channel Drives is now available.
2.4.4 Support for Upgrading from 2.2.3 to 2.3.1 with Remote Copy
■ 2.2.3 MU4 & 2.2.3 MU5 can be upgraded to 2.3.1 MU1 for systems using Remote Copy.
Remote Copy Groups must still be stopped, however Remote Copy does not. Remote Copy
groups may be stopped using the SP Script, an external script, or by stopping each group
individually using the InForm CLI. All InServs with Remote Copy connections to the InServ
running 2.3.1 MU1 must be upgraded to 2.3.1 MU1 within 30 days.
■ Synchronous Long Distance Remote Copy on two node systems is supported in T-Class and
F-Class systems. The asynchronous periodic link must be Remote Copy over IP.
■ Two node T-Class and F-Class secondary systems in N-to-1 (specifically, 2-to-1) Remote Copy
setups using Remote Copy over IP is now supported.
