Usability
Enhancements
■ The IMC supports a navigation pane model referred to as the Manager Pane.
In the Manager Pane model, each manager focuses on displaying information
relative to the task the user is trying to accomplish, where the entire IMC
shifts into the context of the manager.
■ The new Common Actions pane provides the most commonly used actions for
each manager.
■ The IMC provides Introduction pages, which provide an introduction to each
manager and introduce users to common tasks that can be accomplished.
■ Graphical summary screens provide at-a-glance views of all major
management areas and objects.
■ Deeper levels of information in the Navigation Tree provider faster access to
information and pre-filtering by category, e.g. volumes by RAID type.
■ Navigation by links provides the ability to navigate quickly between related
objects, e.g. volumes and the hosts to which they are exported.
■ A new split pane window eliminates excessive drill-down to view detailed
information.
■ The IMC now hides more advanced concepts by default such as logical disks,
spares, and SCSI reservations, thereby making the display simpler for most
users. Users can display these items if desired by configuring their preferences
in the IMC.
■ In addition to the Events Manager where all system alerts can be viewed,
alerts are displayed inside each manager. Only those alerts relevant to each
manager are displayed, e.g. Remote Copy alerts inside the Remote Copy
Manager.
■ The IMC now provides pre-configured performance charts.
