3.1 Checking the Host Server for the Current OS Version
Before connecting the InServ storage server to the host server, verify support for the host
server OS and HBA driver versions. For details, see the latest 3PAR InForm Configuration Matrix
that is available on DCS.
To determine the current release information for the host server and HBA, complete the
following steps:
To display the current version of the AIX host system version, issue oslevel –s in the AIX
CLI interface.
The output communicates the following details:
5300 represents the OS version.
07 indicates the technology level.
08-0918 indicates the service pack.
3.2 Installing the IBM Fibre Channel HBA
3.2.1 Setting up the IBM Fibre Channel HBA for use with the InServ
For HBA installation instructions, driver support and usage guidelines, refer to the IBM
Installation and Usage Guide for each product type. The required drivers are located on
Volume 1 of the IBM Base Installation CDs and are supplied with the hardware kit from IBM.
After the installation of the host FC HBAs, power up the AIX host server.
