HP 3PAR Service Processor Software 4.1.x Release Notes (QR482-96666)
NOTE: This issue has the same workaround as Issue 81645 (“After upgrade to 4.1 and 3.1.2,
InSplore does not complete”).
SP installations in the field are being delayed or failing because the installer cannot
find the VSP SP_ID (Issue 82463)
The method to generate the HP 3PAR Service Processor ID for virtual and physical Service Processors
attached to the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 has changed.
The virtual Service Processor will no longer use the 32-character VMware UUID. The physical
Service Processor will no longer use the server 10-character HP serial number.
The new method is to use the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 7-digit 3PAR serial number that is located
on a label affixed to the node enclosure (DCN1). The label is on a tab on the back right of the
enclosure near Power Cooling Module1 (PCM 1, the PCM on the right).
The Service Processor ID will use the 7-digit 3PAR serial number of the storage system, preceded
by “SP000”. For example, if the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 3PAR serial number is 1601234, the
Service Processor ID will be SP0001601234.
