3 Service Processor Software 2.4.1 Release
The following release notes are for the Service Processor Software 2.4.1 release of the HP 3PAR
Service Processor (SP).
What’s New in the Service Processor
This release includes:
• Secure Network Mode - Allows secure service communication between the Service Processor
(SP) and HP 3PAR Central, enabling secure diagnostic data transmission and remote service
connections. The remote operations feature may not be compatible for all systems.
• CPMAINT - Maintenance utility accessed via an SSH connection, which provides a range of
administrative Secure Service Agent functions not available through the SPMAINT interface.
• The default phone number for modem-connected sites has changed. It is no longer a tollfree
number. Upgrades will not affect previous settings.
• In Secure Network Mode, only a customer user ID (3parcust) can manipulate the firewall.
• In Secure Network Mode, only a customer user ID (3parcust) can manipulate the firewall.
• SPOCC - FRU serial number, which is the same as the MAC address, now appears at the
bottom of the SPOCC home page. The MAC address is the hardware address of the Ethernet
adapter.
• The following have been added to the SP Control Menu:
1.1 SP Version - No longer lists the installed RPMs. Instead, meaningful content on SP
and InForm OS versions and patches is now displayed.

◦ 1.11.4 (for SPMAINT)/1.18 (for SPOCC) Geographical Location - A new menu item has
been added for setting the geographical location needed for improved modem control.
• The following have been added to the Network Menu:
2.2 Connection Portal Control - A new option A has been added to active Secure Network
Mode when in SP Mode.

◦ 2.6 Test Public Network - A new menu item has been added to run a network test.
• When running in Secure Network Mode, the Secure Service Agent can only be managed
using the cpmaint user ID. This ID is controlled by the customer.
When the user logs in as cpmaint using the cpmaint login ID and password, he is presented
with the following cpmaint menu from which he can modify the Secure Service Agent:
